What we're leaving behind in 2024: Dating and Dining edition

As we raise a glass to 2024, let’s reflect on the moments that didn’t quite make the cut. There were the awkward silences, bad menu choices, and yes, dates who couldn’t put their phone down long enough to enjoy the meal. Sigh. We collaborated with Pure, the sex-positive dating app designed for honest and open conversations about desire. Together, we surveyed the community to get the dating down low. Here’s the dining and dating woes we’re desperate to ditch as we dive fork-first into 2025.

Dining Etiquette Icks

Forget eating with your mouth open (although that is gross) - our biggest dining ick in 2024 was something a little less forgivable. 45% of respondents agreed that a lack of honesty ruined the vibe on dining dates And let’s not forget those mid-meal phone scrollers (10%) or the ones who talk about themselves non-stop (18%). If you’re looking to enjoy the meal and the company in 2025, maybe leave those bad habits at the door.

The Rollercoaster of Dating Meals

While 37% of Pure’s community described their dating lives in 2024 as “a chaotic mix of fun and failure,” the real star of the year was the food itself. Italian stole the show with 41% of diners opting for its comfort and charm, while Asian-inspired menus (34%) added a bit of spice to the mix. Meanwhile, pub grub (10%) was quietly left behind, proving that sometimes, we just need a little more ambience.

A Farewell to Uninspired Dining

The days of uninspired dining are over. Whether it’s indulging in an unforgettable wine-paired tasting menu or a cosy little trattoria, the community is ready for experiences that make memories. 53% are leaning towards fun, quirky date ideas for 2025—but there’s always room for a classic dinner done well.
