The Langham started serving their iconic afternoon tea in 1865 and it’s been a hit ever since. They also claim to be the first hotel to serve afternoon tea after it took aristocracy by storm. Taking pride in their services, they only serve JING tea and have their menu overseen by Michel Roux Jr and created by Executive Pastry Chef Andrew Gravett. The menus start from £80pp and up depending on extras.
Millie’s Lounge at The Ned
Set in The Grand Banking Hall, Millie’s Lounge afternoon tea is chic and beautiful. At £45pp, it’s well priced considering how expensive afternoon tea tends to be. For a glass of champagne, it’s £58pp. With it’s beautiful decor and bright interior thanks to their gorgeously large windows, Millie’s Lounge looks something out of a movie.
The Teahouse at Petersham Nurseries, Richmond
Although a bit further out from central London, a day trip to The Teahouse in Richmond is well worth it. Set in a classic English garden, they pride themselves on a traditional garden afternoon tea. At £55pp or £65 with a glass of prosecco, there’s a wide variety of options available. Richmond is the perfect opportunity to have a day out, take a look at the scenery, and enjoy an afternoon tea.
Kensington Palace Pavilion at Kensington Gardens
If you really want to feel like royalty, you can enjoy an afternoon tea at The Orangery at Kensington Gardens. Stroll through the flower gardens and sit down to enjoy the scenery with a lovely cup of tea. At £55pp, we’d say that’s a fair price to pay to feel like a princess.
Harrods Tea Room, Kensington
Since 1896, Harrods has prided itself on their fine selection of teas and desserts. Their Classic Afternoon Tea, priced at £73pp has a wide variety of options in their sandwich and pâtisserie sections, as well as having a Tea Tailor to help you find the right blend.
The Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon at Fortnum & Mason
Named in honour of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s visit in 2012, this tea room has it all. At £80pp for a Classic Afternoon Tea, they also have a savoury and High Tea version. You can browse through the department store before or after your visit and dream about their iconic turquoise colour scheme. As Fortnum and Mason is already a must-visit in London, stopping by their Tea Salon is the kind of detour we’d recommend.
Tea and Tattle, Bloomsbury
For a classic afternoon tea in London, Tea and Tattle is very well priced at £48 for two people! Opposite the British Museum and minutes from Oxford Street, it’s the perfect spot to add in to your sightseeing. Tea and Tattle is intimate and cosy, lovely for a quiet day to enjoy a traditional cuppa.
Candella Tea Room, Kensington
A classic English tea room that embodies grace and elegance, Candella Tea Room is everything you need for an afternoon tea. At a very reasonable £24.95pp, they have gorgeous pâtisserie options that no one could say no to. They even sell their own blends which shows they know what they’re talking about!
Afternoon Tea at Claridge’s
Claridge’s legendary afternoon tea in their iconic Foyer & Reading Room is perfect to celebrate a special occasion. Their Traditional Afternoon Tea is priced from £90 per person. Claridge’s afternoon tea is made with so much attention to detail that they even had tea connoisseur, Henrietta Lovell, handpick the tea they serve. With at least a dozen tea options, there’s something for every person.
Peter Pan Afternoon Tea at Aqua Shard
Inspired by the adventures of Peter Pan on the island of Neverland, the Aqua Shard has made afternoon tea a little more interesting. They even go as far as having a custom made tea stand inspired by Captain James Hook’s Pirate Ship, the Jolly Roger. Many of the food served is also interlinked with the famous novel, and we love the attention to detail. At £70pp, you’ll also be able to take advantage of the beautiful views of the Aqua Shard.
